Saturn in Libra: Committed

older-couple-turq-bagMy husband and I have mutual affection for older couples; we love watching them together and turning to one another, saying, ‘that’ll be you and I one day’. I adore those elder elegant couples who’ve weathered time so well, gracefully. I love observing those little private moments we all share in relationship. A seventy-odd year old woman talking to her husband, as though to the air. He, half-listening, interrupting to ask his beloved if she remembered to take her pills today. She, replying no he hadn’t, and he, ‘let me get them for you…’

Not to romanticize growing old together, it takes a lot of work to get to the graceful, wise and cute stage, hence my fascination. Because as we partner up to grow old together, a sure thing is never really a sure thing, is it? Promises are made; some break. Relationships don’t just require one single vow of dedication. Venus in Virgo, The Virgin Goddess

“No one can make you inferior without your consent.” -Eleanor Roosevelt, Venus in Virgo

“I wouldn’t do nudity in films. For me, personally… To act with my clothes on is a performance; to act with my clothes off is a documentary.”- Julia Roberts, Venus in Virgo

“I gave my beauty and my youth to men. I am going to give my wisdom and experience to animals.” – Brigitte Bardot, Venus in Virgo

If you were born when Venus was in the constellation of Virgo, the Virgin…

No Venus sign likes to be taken for granted, yet because Virgo is so competent, she often takes on more than most and never asks for credit for it. Unlike the sign that comes before her, Leo, who carries her self as a grand event demanding notice, inwardly Venus in Virgo can feel unnoticed, like the grain of sand on an endless beach. Adding salt to the sand, she is often filled with self-doubt about her personal worth so she’s inclined to play down her efforts even more. This is a shame, because whereas other Venus signs are guilty of too much good marketing and not enough follow-through, Virgo’s attentiveness, precision and devotion to detail makes her good work the worthiest. Her good works are often more worthy of praise than any Leo (sorry Leo)! [Read more…]

Solar Eclipse Cancer New Moon: Hands to Heart

hand milagroThis week we cooked dinner for thirty people. I made the curry zucchinni soup and salad. John made the homemade spelt bread with goat milk and honey. The goal was to cook enough food for 30 people with a budget of 30 dollars, which sounds a bit insane in this economy. It is. But besides getting together once a week to share a meal cooked by one or a pair of the group members, they also have a gift circle – you ask for what you need and volunteer to give some resource you have. It sounded simple enough, but we soon realized that cooking a meal for 30 was easier. Rummaging through my mind for something to give wasn’t too difficult. Fresh chicken eggs. Love spells. Fresh roasted coffee. A dip in the hot tub. The asking proved vexing. What, I reasoned, do I need that I don’t already have at my fingertips, between Google, Yelp and my husband? I need more clients and money, but that was a given for everyone in the circle. A new phone, my car fixed…Clearly I have needs, but voicing them to a group of people put me in an disarmingly uncomfortable position. Invite people and their need-filled complications in my life?  I may need some things, but maybe it was easier to be alone. [Read more…]
