Jupiter Enters Virgo: Make Your Own Luck

I will be astronaut

Jupiter, King of planets, has left the sign of Kings, Leo, behind. Jupiter expressing through the robust sign brought: a rise in stardom (everyone can be a star, now), big egos and more recently, lions. As Jupiter expresses through Virgo, that’s the planet of expansion, in the sign of humility? Opportunity through: work and service? It doesn’t sound like King behavior. Yet over the coming year this is what we have. [Read more…]

Feeling the Squeeze

Young girl pulling boat with boy in it to shore

Newsflash: “I thought a Jupiter transit was supposed to be good!” has been reportedly heard repeating across the heavens.  Like the Chinese parable of a farmer whose mare runs off during planting season (bad luck), later returns with two stallions (good luck), the son is bucked by the new stallion and breaks his leg (bad luck) then the army rides into town to conscript the son into service, but leaves the invalid son behind (good luck)… Luck is like that runaway horse. We have the tendency to think either something is good or bad, but no singular event ever exists in isolation. Maybe we need to widen our context about what “luck” is. [Read more…]

Jupiter In Cancer: To Every Heart, A Home

Little buddhaLately, the waterworks are turned ON. Last weekend I found myself blubbering about the loss of traditional cooking skills, nostalgically yearning for a time when folks gathered together in the kitchen, made, and ate real food together, a time when women gathered, grandmothers, mothers and cooked toxin-free food…and the dam burst and the tears started rolling. My dear Cancer friend, a man, moved by my tears, replied with a story about a friend who brought home cooked food every day to the hospital bed of a sick friend. Touched by this rare compassion, then he started crying. Then I started laughing. At the ridiculous loony-ness (lunar) of it all, citing Jupiter’s entry into Cancer (6/25) to quickly trine Neptune and Jupiter – a tear-jerker of a transit.

What will Jupiter’s transit through Cancer bring? Astro-peeps have worried: with explosive Uranus-Pluto square nearby, what gives? Well, wherever Uranus-Pluto touches, things need to heal and right themselves, to evolve. Things like, entrenched problems with our food supply, undervaluation of the healing arts, personal healing, undervaluation of feminine arts, women, and a real big gaping hole where compassion should be. Jupiter always asks, What are you underestimating? Where could life be better?  Cancer answers. We need to feel where we hurt. We need to heal our hearts and our health, nurture our relationship to our inner self, value our home, women, our family — or we lose energy and power. [Read more…]

Jupiter Uranus Aries Conjunction: Be Dazzled

Satori can happen everywhere by Alice PopkornIf you’re not jumping out of your skin yet, you must not be an Aries (or have planets at the early cardinal degrees). Jupiter and Uranus have together alighted on the celestial scene and it’s a creative emancipation for those of us who have felt our individuality held back, and a true opportunity to go on and get on with your most radical self of selves.

This conjunction opposes my Pluto and falls smack on my Sixth House Mars. I don’t need any caffeine to greet my day; I am alert! Physical activity isn’t just helpful – it’s required. More deeply, Pluto’s transit to my Sun has been sluggish, tedious, wearisome, and I feared gravity would have its way with me. Ah, happy awakenings alight! I need this; we need this. To the deadening grind of Saturn and Pluto, add the enlivening, invigorating juices of Uranus and Jupiter in Aries. Bold expansion! Promethean consciousness! A more authentic version of your self!
