The Courage to Bloom

Picture 1I don’t pimp my stuff enough, and I do think with Spring that’s about to change. There’s more of me to sell!

Every two months I write a seasonal article with an astrological theme under the auspice of ‘Sex & Soul Mates’ columnist for Constellation Magazine. I love this magazine! Brainchild of Jungian astrologer Sherene Schostak and artist/tarot reader and pin-up gal, Katelan Foisy, it’s for artists, astrology lovers and anyone with style. The visual artistry is always lush, evocative and effervescent. The conversation is the same.

For Aries/Taurus I was so inspired by this season of renewal I did an astrological style guide for each Sun sign, with an outrageous new attitude, look and feel for Spring. And the photography this month is out of this world – pin-ups. How Taurean is that? If you thought pin-up Queens only belong to the era of Betty Page, think again. Many of us have a secret fantasy of being a pin-up. Pin-ups are here to stay.

Ultimately, the shift from Aries into Taurus (remember, the planets move one by one slowly into the season. Mercury and Venus are currently in Taurus, even though the Sun is in Aries right now) is about developing the courage to bloom. We raise our hemlines, bare our shoulders to discover that those and other courageous acts are also an exercise in self-worth. Here’s an excerpt from S&SM Aries/Taurus issue:

Consider that during springtime, nature is in cosmic collusion with our deepest wish to bloom. Under the auspices of optimism, we dare risk a little more of our self. We psychologically shrug off the depression and stagnation of winter, instead entertaining the thought of believing in our self just a little bit more. Spring thinking goes like this: if a shorter hemline can give us a spot of confidence, a conversation with a perfect stranger we admire might not be so hard, and when we dare to finally speak up at a work meeting, risk voicing a good idea, confidence accrues. When we let courage lead, we also begin to invest in our self, to value our self – a Taurus theme. Spring rewards the bold.
Spring is an attitude, an attitude that we’re ready for change, and expectation that change is going to be good.
